The composer writes: “ARK is an ongoing collection of musical ideas that I would not want to lose amid the daily flood of sound and information. This first set of violin duos was written between hurricanes and mudslides as a tribute to those who have lost everything to floodwaters. It is a meditation on loss and rebuilding. It is my attempt to answer the question: if I were to lose all my possessions in a natural disaster, what music would I take with me?” – Anderson Alden
